1. Overview

At Shipping Container Lifestyle, we specialize in the sale and logistics of heavy industrial goods, including standard shipping containers, custom modified containers, forklifts, and trailers. Due to the size, weight, and specialized transport equipment involved, delivery requires clear coordination between our logistics team and the client.

This policy outlines our transport requirements, offloading options, lead times, and client responsibilities to ensure a seamless delivery process.

2. Order Processing & Lead Times

All lead times are estimated from the date full payment (or required deposit) clears into our account and final technical specifications or floor plans are approved in writing.

3. Delivery Methods & Offloading Options

Delivering heavy containers and machinery requires specialized trucks. The mode of transport and offloading depends on the product purchased and site setup:

A. Flatbed / Skeletal Trailer (Transport Only)

  • Best For: Long-distance haulage or clients who have their own offloading equipment on-site.

  • Offloading: The client is entirely responsible for providing a suitable mobile crane, heavy-duty forklift, or container reach stacker at the destination site to offload the container or equipment.

B. Side-Loader Truck

  • Best For: Placing shipping containers directly adjacent to the passenger/driver side of the truck.

  • Requirements: The truck drops the container down parallel to itself. Ground must be level, firm, and clear of obstruction for at least 15 meters in length and 4 meters in width.

C. Crane Truck / Hiab (Crane-Assisted Delivery)

  • Best For: Precise placement over small fences, low walls, or placing containers onto prepared footings/foundations.

  • Reach: Standard cranes can reach 3 to 6 meters from the side of the vehicle. Extended reach requirements must be requested and quoted prior to dispatch.

D. Trailers & Forklifts

  • Trailers: Delivered via flatbed transport or towed directly if road licensing and transport agreements permit.

  • Forklifts: Delivered via tilt-tray / low-bed trucks equipped with ramps for drive-off unloading.

4. Delivery Site Access & Transport Requirements

To prevent failed deliveries or damage to property, the client must ensure the delivery destination meets the following strict requirements:

  • Clearance Height: A minimum overhead clearance of 4.8 meters (16 feet) free of tree branches, power lines, phone cables, or overhanging roofs.

  • Clearance Width: Minimum road/gate access width of 3.5 meters.

  • Turning Radius: Heavy rigid or articulated trucks require large turning circles (up to 25 meters depending on vehicle type).

  • Ground Conditions: Driveways, access routes, and offloading sites must consist of firm, dry, and level ground (concrete, asphalt, or compacted gravel). Trucks will not enter soft mud, loose sand, or steep unpaved inclines where risk of sinking or rollover exists.

5. Client Responsibilities & Failed Deliveries

  • Site Readiness: The client must ensure the delivery site is prepared, level, clear of obstructions, and accessible prior to the driver's arrival.

  • Presence at Delivery: The client or an authorized representative must be on-site during delivery to sign the delivery note and direct vehicle placement.

  • Failed / Aborted Deliveries: If a delivery cannot be completed due to inadequate site access, soft ground, overhead obstruction, client absence, or missing offloading equipment:

    • The client will be charged for return freight, vehicle holding/demurrage fees, and re-delivery charges.

6. Inspection & Risk Transfer

  • Transfer of Risk: Risk of loss or damage to the product transfers to the client immediately upon offloading at the designated delivery site.

  • Inspection Upon Arrival: The client must thoroughly inspect the condition of the container, trailer, or forklift upon arrival. Any visible transit damage or discrepancies must be noted on the driver’s delivery bill and reported to Shipping Container Lifestyle within 48 hours.
